The Northern Irish town of Ballymena lies in County Antrim and is home to nearly 30,000 inhabitants. Situated amid some of the province's most spectacular countryside and a stone's throw from many charming rural villages, the area is a haven for sightseers.
Known for centuries as the "city of the seven towers", today only three of the original seven towers remain in the form of Ballymena's main three churches. The town has a rich heritage which is symbolised by the many ancient buildings that punctuate the skyline alongside its more modern constructions.
Well known in the region for its excellent retail areas, the town offers both small independent shopping districts which are home to small clothing and jewellery store and larger retail complexes that offer all the major high street chains.
Ballymena is also an important local business and manufacturing centre for the surrounding area.
